The Regional Construction Department provides Construction Code Services for Brielle, Sea Girt, Spring Lake, & Spring Lake Heights. This office is responsible for issuing building permits, inspecting work to ensure safety, and enforcing the state's Uniform Construction Code (UCC) and local ordinances.
INSPECTIONS
Due to the recent change in the code 5:23-2.18(c) all inspection requests must be submitted in writing at least 24 hours prior to requested inspection date. Inspections must be requested through the SDL portal.
YOU MUST CREATE AN SDL ACCOUNT TO USE THE PORTAL – SEE INSTRUCTIONS UNDER FORMS & DOCUMENTS
This log in can be used with any town that utilizes the SDL portal. To switch between towns, click the drop-down menu in the top right-hand corner and select “Find a Town”. Make sure you are on the portal of the town where the work is being done.
Once your request has been submitted, it will be processed by the office and a confirmation email will be sent. This email will include the Date & Time of the scheduled inspection.
PERMIT APPLICATIONS
Complete building permit packages can be picked up in the office or printed from the DCA website.
All prior approvals must be obtained before a construction permit application can be submitted.
Once a completed permit application is submitted, plans are reviewed by one or more sub-code official(s), depending on the scope of work (e.g., Building, Plumbing, Electric, Fire, & Mechanical). Reviews may take up to 20 business days.
Once all sub-code officials have signed the plan review, the permit is ready to be issued. The listed Contractor on the application will be notified via email the permit is ready and the cost of the permit.
Permits can be picked up in person in the office, or payment can be mailed in. If mailing in a payment, please include a self-addressed & stamped envelope to return the field copy of the permit. Checks should be made payable to the town the work is being completed in
